Income Withholding

All Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Court child support orders include a provision for child support payments by way of income withholding, meaning if a payor of support is currently employed and receiving traditional payroll from their employer, child support must be withheld from the payor’s wages; regardless if the payor is in agreement with the withholding unless the withholding order is proven to be a mistake of fact. If a payor is a sub-contractor and receives 1099 income, income withholding may still be an option but varies on a case by case basis given the income the payor receives from the contractor. The Federal Consumer Credit Protection Act (15 USC 1673(b)(2))) sets forth laws on the amounts that can be withheld from wages for debts, including child support debts. LCO Child Support will not request an employer withhold more than 50% of a person’s income from any one pay-period if supporting another family, nor more than 60% if the payor is obligated to support only one family. LCO Child Support will not request an employer to withhold more than 55% when there are arrears owed in addition to current support, if the payor is support more than one family, nor more than 65% for arrears when the payor is not supporting more than one family. (45 CFR 309.110(c))

Mailing Payments

If you are currently unemployed, have a court ordered child support obligation and payments are not being withheld through work wages or if you want to make an additional payment, Payments may be mailed to: LCO Child Support 13394 W Trepania Rd. Hayward, WI 54843 Please be sure to enclose the Child Support Payment Coupon with your payment OR clearly indicate the payor’s name. Do not mail cash. Do not mail a personal check. LCO Child Support does not accept personal checks.

Pay with Cash

You are welcome to remit a payment directly at the LCO Child Support office located at 13394 W Trepania Rd. Hayward, WI 54843 LCO Child Support accepts cash or money orders when payments are made directly at their office. At the time of payment, you will receive a receipt for the payment.
