Genetic testing for paternity establishment can be conducted directly at the LCO Child Support office. LCO Child Support has several staff members who are certified in buccal swab collection. Additionally, LCO Child Support is able to facilitate genetic testing for individuals who are out of the Lac Courte Oreilles area, out of state or incarcerated. In some cases, if an individual is deceased, LCO Child Support may be able to assist with establishing paternity through relationship testing. Contact LCO Child Support for more information on genetic testing. LCO Child Support offers case consultation sessions at no charge to case participants. Case consultation sessions are designed to offer families an opportunity to meet in a safe, neutral environment to discuss child support obligations with a trained and certified mediator. Case consultation participation is not mandatory and is offered if both parties to the case voluntarily chose to use this service. Contact LCO Child Support to learn more about case consultation. LCO Child Support works tirelessly to collect child support for families of our program. All participants of LCO Child Support who are ordered to receive child support will be issued a child support debit card. All collected child support payments will be disbursed to the individuals debit card and can then be used wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. LCO Child Support works with individuals ordered to pay support to monitor if their compliancy with the order for support. All orders for child support are ordered by the Court, not orders issued by the child support program. LCO Child Support staff use various techniques, procedures and protocols to work with individuals to elicit compliancy in paying support and following their Court order. Enforcement of child support can range from payment reminder communication up to incarceration. Each case is reviewed on an individual basis to determine the appropriate enforcement action(s). It is important for parents who are ordered to receive support to communicate any new information about the other parent to the child support program. LCO Child Support also works with fellow Tribal Child Support Agencies, State Child Support agencies, law enforcement and various agencies to locate parents, assets and employment. Either parent may request a review of their child support order any time there has been a substantial change in circumstances since the last order for support was entered by the Court. A substantial change in circumstances can include a change in income, employment, ability to maintain employment, a change in placement, etc. Since each case is unique, it will depend upon your specific case circumstances if LCO Child Support will seek a modification to your order for support. If you submit a request for review of your child support order and LCO Child Support does not elect to motion the Court for a modification, individuals always have the right and opportunity to file a motion with the Court themselves and ask the Court to modify their support order. Contact LCO Child Support for additional information on modification of child support orders. |
